SPLC to join #ASNEchat on Nov. 11

On Nov. 11, the ASNE Youth Journalism Initiative Student Advisory Board will host its second Twitter chat. The chat’s topic centers around student press rights, as well as law and First Amendment issues faced by student media.

The featured professional participant for this chat will be Frank LoMonte of the Student Press Law Center. LoMonte is the center’s executive director. He has extensive experience as a lawyer, an award-winning investigative journalist and a political columnist.

The chat will take place from 8 to 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. To participate, follow and tweet using the hashtag #ASNEchat. The tweets from the last chat on reader engagement are available online.

Students interested in deciding topics for future Twitter chats and other unique journalism opportunities should apply to join SchoolJournalism.org’s advisory board. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
